Aspen Enhancement
We have treated over 450 Acres of Aspen stands throughout Wyoming in conjunction with the Wyoming State Game and Fish Department
In addition to pleasing the eye, aspens stands also provide crucial big game habitat, especially for the elk. A stand of aspens is enhanced by removing most if not all conifers within it. Aspens also respond well to ground disturbance (i.e. machine work or controlled fire). Another benefit of aspen stands is their ability to slow down wildfires as they simply don’t erupt in flame like their coniferous cousins. In fact, a wildfire (or a prescribed, controlled burn) can enhance a stand of aspens, burning out smaller, crowded trees to let larger trees grow to maturity.
